"The Battersby Duo are a National Treasure." Senator Bob Graham

As Educators, we all recognize that nothing in the curriculum is more important to a Child's Early Education than those experiences, which reinforce the learning of literacy. Not just reading, but writing, thinking, talking, listening, and creating. All of these skills and concepts are crucial to the educational, psychological, and social well being of the young Student. Efforts to understand, and affirm all students, and to treat their cultural and linguistic backgrounds as valid and important should be reflected in every facet of school life.
Our commitment to the Education of Young Children in America is the reason we are The Battersby Duo. Our message is simple; Be happy, love life, and love education. Our "tongue in cheek" Monty Python style has earned us a reputation that has far exceeded our wildest expectations. Our simple songs encourage and nurture young minds; Our humor has tickled the odd funny bone. Thanks to the millions of Kids, Parents, and Teachers whom we have had the privilege of calling our Friends for the past 2 decades.
"A Top Notch Duo." Sesame Street

The BatDuo was founded in 1984 in Virginia. Tim and Laura performed at a 4 year olds birthday party in Middleburg Va. Knowing no Children's songs at the time they played some Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Cat Stevens tunes to 50 pediatric guests. The Kids had a great time, but we think the Parents had an even better time.

Within a few months of that 1st party, The BatDuo were the hottest ticket on the Kids Society Circuit. Middleburg Va, an elite playground for the rich and famous was the their launching pad, and before they knew it, they were being flown to Martha's Vineyard to do a birthday party for a young heiress and to Vail Colorado for a Bar Mitzvah for a young man. By the 90's they were performing  at events like The Easter Bunny Brunch to 500 guests at The Ritz Carlton in Arlington Va on Easter Sunday, and then at The White House the following day for The President and First Lady and over 10000 children.

In the course of the past few decades, The BatDuo has written over 400 songs. Many of them are,as School Library Journal recently noted, goofy wacky and whimsical," but they have also composed more serious music for film. In 1978, long before it was "cool to be green" Tim composed the music for an environmental movie entitled The Last Chance. This movie was funded by The Smithsonian Institute, and shown at The National Zoo and the San Diego Zoo for years.
