Tim and Laura are known professionally as The Battersby Duo (kids tend to refer to us as the BatDuo because it's easier to pronounce!)  and are a musical comedy team for children and families. Laura has a degree in sociology emphasizing early childhood development, while Tim has a degree in English literature. They first met in the early 1980s, auditioning for the Wayside Theatre, where they joined a troupe of actors that put on shows for schoolchildren in Virginia. 2 years later, they decided to strike out on their own and within a few years, were playing in Elementary schools all across the USA. As time passed, Tim and Laura began to write more and more songs for young children, embracing the very tenets of early childhood development. Love, nature, counting, food, animals, and reading became the main themes of many Battersby Duo songs. Coupled with Tim's quick wit and Laura's more sensible approach to life, after an appearance on Sesame Street, the creators explained Tim and Laura's onstage antics as "Monty Python meets Mary Poppins," a moniker that stuck with them for their whole career. In 2010, they produced a children's album called Sunny Days that was submitted to the Grammy®. Tim and Laura were awarded a Grammy®  nomination for the album three months later. During their 30-year career, The Battersby Duo has garnered much praise from music critics and presenters alike. “A banquet of silliness designed to please the most refined of juvenile palates."
